Message from your teachers!
Hello Parents!
We appreciate your patience as we continue to prepare for the new school year 2021 – 2022. Our priority is ensuring the best way to open the doors safely. We will continue talking with you every week and hope you will share any concerns. Please look for the weekly Learning Resources and Tools of the Mind link. There are many activities to do at home and your child for your child to do alone. Always feel free to contact your child’s Teacher with questions or concerns.
Our four progam-wide expectations are Be Compassionate, Be Curious, Be A Community and Be Courageous. This week we will focus on how children can Be Courageous.
We are Courageous when we:
- Try new things for the first time
- Ask questions
- Make a mistake and try again
- Share our own feelings
- Stand up for what is right
In this week’s learning resource, you’ll find an activity related to this week’s expectation. Let us know how it went!

We know it’s been HOT this summer, and it’s important to stay cool and be sure the kids are eating plenty of vegetables so they can grow and get those healthy vitamins! As you prepare food this week, encourage your child to help you count or measure ingredients. Below we have a yummy recipe that also has both fruits AND veggies inside so they can get those vitamins! You don’t have to do this specific recipe, but it can be as simple as gathering some of your favorite fruits, pour in a little cold water or milk, and blend it!
APPLE BLUEBERRY SPINACH
Ingredients
- 1/2 Cup apple juice
- 1/2 Cup blueberries
- 1 T. flax seed or option
- 1 apple, cut in pieces
- 2 Cups baby spinach
Directions
Add all ingredients to blender and blend until smooth.

Be Courageous: Don’t drop the egg!
Give your child a spoon and have them balance a hard-boiled or plastic egg from one point to another either indoors or out. How quickly can they go? Can they dance as they move?
The way this helps children Be Courageous is by helping them try new things, and learn that making mistakes is always okay! (And if you use a plastic or toy egg, it won’t be messy if the egg does drop!)

Go outside and find leaves! This is a fun and relaxing math activity.
Pick leaves and sort them by colors or types of leaves and count, count, count! You can also create patterns with your leaves for fun. Group, sort and count – your children can practice math as they explore the leaves they collect!
